Bingo News: Are traditional bingo calls offensive?

A bingo caller in Suffolk has been told to stop using some traditional bingo calls in case they cause offence to players, has the UK gone mad with political correctness?

The Daily Mail have reported that an ex-mayor bingo caller in Sudbury, Suffolk has been asked not to use phrases  that we all know and love such as 'two fat ladies' and 'legs 11' as the calls could cause upset for the players and result in legal action being taken against the bingo hall.

John Sayers is the bingo caller in question and he stated that no one had ever complained before and now players were moaning that his calling now boring.

75 year old Mr Sayers said "I was advised that someone might take offence and we could end up being taken to court. I'm obviously not being offensive- just having a bit of fun. It's the tradition of the game and part of our language".

A council spokesman spoke to the East Anglian Daily Times and said "We have to be politically correct".
