Bingo News: Irish Bookmaker Paddy Power apply for Nevada licences

Paddy Power could potentially become the first European operator to receive a licence in Nevada following their application to manufacture and operate mobile gambling devices in the American state. Paddy Power applied for the licence back in August 2010 and are hoping the Nevada Gaming Control Board will approve the application as early as November. On November 2ns there will be a hearing though no agenda for that meeting has been agreed.

It is rumoured that Paddy Power could be testing the water in preparation to run a Nevada based online poker website if current federal legislation changes. Paddy Power has not previously accepted wagers from US based players but gaining these licences will secure the company's position to offer online gambling products in Nevada should the law change.

888 Holdings, another European gaming firm have recently entered a business partnership with Nevada licensee Caesars Entertainment and William Hill has also bee acquiring local land and mobile based sports and betting firms. Paddy Power are taking this a step further though with their application to actually manufacture and operate mobile gambling devices.
