Bingo News: Sportingbet set to sell their Turkish language website

Sportingbet Plc the online sports betting and gaming operator have decided to sell their Turkish language website and it's associated assets to for a minimum of £125 million cash. The company set their Turkish unit are East Pioneer Corporation BV. The deal to buy the SuperBahis.com domain will be arranged through Sportingbet's Longfrie Limited arm. East Pioneer will run the business in the same way, following guarantees from GVC Holdings and their Sports B2B operation.

Sportingbet said that the sale will push the overall revenue from regulated markets to half now and maybe even up to 70 percent later on. In Turkey the online gambling companies operate untaxed which will be beneficial to Sportingbet who have been experiencing their highest profit margin to date.

“Following this disposal, Sportingbet will derive the large majority of its earnings from regulated territories,” said Chief Executive Officer for Sportingbet, Andrew McIver. Sportingbet recently bought Danbook Limited and Scandic Bookmakers Limited, the Danish bookmakers for somewhere in the region of £8.5 million.

“The proceeds from the sale of this unregulated income stream will be used to drive forward the rest of the group. We have clearly shown our strategic intent and look to the future with confidence. The group's future is underpinned by the quality of our best-in-class global sportsbook and diversified business model.”

The deal is now awaiting approval by Sportingbet's shareholders. Customer Facing assets as well as customer database and accounts and key employees will be included in the deal.
