Sun Bingo Review

No-one does bingo like The Sun: If any brand name in the UK sums up what the game is all about it’s our favourite tabloid with its wildly-entertaining, cheeky, irreverent take on life in the UK - and their bingo has always been right at the centre of it all, so how does their online offering measure up?

Unsurprisingly it comes in a bold, red top style – supported by various shades of yellow, and everything’s done using an in-your-face style with all panels and buttons sporting contemporary rounded corners in line with sites like Twitter and some of the more popular Facebook applications.

There’s no download required as you’d expect, and registration is quick and easy. You can check out the games without making any deposit, though that wasn’t too obvious when we were being taken through the registration process, but it’s worth bearing in mind as it is a major plus point even if it’s not advertised heavily.

Sun Bingo take deposits via Visa (Debit, Credit and Electron), Mastercard, and UKash; withdrawals are paid onto credit card accounts, sent by cheque or by wire. Prepayment card and e-wallet options were notable by their absence, so let’s hope they appear soon.

There’s an impressive range of games, particularly if you like 90 ball bingo: The 75 and 80 ball rooms have 2 rooms each, but the 90 ball lobby is split into 5 lounges: Fashion, Romance, Music, Celebrity and Candy all offer 3 rooms in their own right, so you really are spoilt for choice. You’ll also find session bingo offering you some cheap deals, although the main attraction for us with all of the bingo rooms was – surprisingly enough – the chat room hosts. Often these are automated and don’t have much to say, but here they are genuinely engaging and actually crack jokes and feed off one another’s humour, making the whole thing into a really vibrant experience for all concerned.

The slots tab is impressive, too: Demo play is offered with no questions asked right from the outset, which is a rarity even on dedicated slot sites; there are also penny slots, and all the games display the minimum stake clearly at icon level, making it easier to choose your game. The Sun’s target audience are well-catered for here with TV favourites like Deal or No Deal, Mystic Meg and The X-Factor all appearing in slot form. There are also some well-presented scratchcard games and the chance to play a basic Poker-derived card game in 4 different rooms to boot.

As you’d expect for a large brand like the Sun, there’s customer support available via chat, email and telephone and the FAQs are abnormally extensive with a customised search facility to make it easier to find your subject.

When you join and make your first deposit you’ll receive a 200% welcome bonus – this is, it should be noted, non-withdrawable - so you can only withdraw winnings generated by it and not the bonus itself. It stays in your account for 30 days from when you join and anything generated by it from slot games needs to be played through 20 times over before it can be withdrawn.

There are loads of other promos as well, including the Easter Cash hunt, Mystic Meg’s Wheel of Destiny and a 50% reload bonus to name but a few. Given that the Sun newspaper is prone to giving away lots of goodies we expected a decent crop of freebies here as well, and they don’t disappoint.

So is this the People’s bingo site? Unsurprisingly the answer’s a resounding ‘yes’. It’s unashamedly loud, proud and brassier than a teenage holiday rep but it does deliver in virtually every respect. Once they add on an e-wallet option it’ll have the lot…
