The Winners from The BRIT’s 2016

By Ben Barker - February 26 2016

The night started classic Ant & Dec style with them in their dressing room, followed by a performance from Coldplay that kickstarted the whole night.

The award for best Female Solo Artist was then announced. I guess it was no surprise to many in the audience or the other nominees that Adele took the Brit award for this category. During her speech she publically supported Kesha who is currently in court with her producer/production company.

Justin Bieber performed ‘Love Yourself’ with James Bay that swiftly turned into an amazing performance of ‘Sorry’ with a lot of fire and flame throwers. Apparently James Bay stepped in for friend Justin after he was left a guitar player down, pretty nice, right?

A well deserved win then for James Bay as he picked up the award for Best British Male Solo Artist. He looked pretty surprised to win as he was up against some of the biggest names in pop such as Mark Ronson.

Best International Group award was taken by Tame Impala who are currently on world tour performing in some of the biggest arenas across the country.

Best Single was the next award…Adele picked up her second award for the evening and she was over the moon. She even gave Justin Bieber a cheeky kiss on the way to the stage…

Before saying she was sick of hearing her own voice!

The British Group Award was won by Coldplay. Who couldn’t remember Years & Years name and referred to them as ‘the other one’ in their speech. Nice touch.

International Male Solo Artist? Well that is just a silly question isn’t it, of course the award was given to Justin Bieber for his new album ‘Purpose’. Diplo a producer on the album was also the one to award him. Happy days!

Catfish and the Bottlemen won the award for British Breakthrough Act, an underdog in the category came out on top. They were nominated alongside Years & Years and James Bay.

Björk picked up International Female Solo Artist, she accepted the award over video and everyone was a little confused what was covering her face…

One Direction were looking a little sparse this year as they accepted the award for British Artist Video, they didn’t seem to impressed on winning either, we will let you decide on that one.

Album of the year? Do we really need to say? Of course Adele won for her new album “25”.

Global Success? Yep, you guessed it…Adele! This award was even presented by astronaut Tim Peake from the Space Station, so it is safe to say Adele got a little emotional and overwhelmed when she accepted the award. You can see the full video here…
