More Bingo Lingo, ball names!

By Becky Mosley - September 23 2008

Many of the names given to bingo balls are based on Cockney rhyming slang but there are many variations used and still make me giggle!

Some names are based on the numbers appearance, for example 88 is ”two fat ladies” but then is sometimes ”wobbly wobbly”!

Other terms are not as simple and need more explanation. For example Kelly’s Eye, number one, goes back to when bingo was a popular army game and was the only form of gambling allowed by the army. Although I’m not sure who Kelly was! Number nine, doctor’s orders, a pill known as number nine was a laxative given out by army doctors!

Just for fun I have compiled a list of the ball names used in bingo!
